I often find myself creating city landscapes on the edge of the sea. I was born on an island and spent much of my life living on one, figuratively. I also have always been drawn to the sentimental memories of cities I’ve visited in my life or in dreams. These memories are an endless source of inspiration for work that I create including this one.The title of this work is inspired by the music of Nick Cave. A lot of my work is created while listening to music and a lot of times either lyrics or words inspired by the lyrics wind up becoming the title or scrawled into the work itself.
This piece is made entirely of silk screen with just a touch of acrylic wash.It is made on just sewed panel that is mounted on a pine wood frame. It is made in three sections, a triptych.
Each panel is connected with bolts making it so that each panel can actually be separated. This is a practice I’ve started with my work years ago and continue to use whether or not the work ever become separated it has the potential. I tend to lose myself and metaphors with my work and incorporate certain things that may seem arbitrary but to still hold great importance to the work as a whole.
For the collector of this work, it would come assembled fully.
The pieces 32” x 17 3/4” x 1 3/4”
The back of each panel is signed in the case that they ever do become separated from one another.
