I spent 20 years living in New York City working on my craft. A major downfall to my process has been the inability to afford much of the material needed to create. But one of the major advantages to living in a place like New York City with the amount of wonderful garbage one could find and garbage night strolling the streets of New York at night. This became quickly one of my favorite pastimes. Of course, there are certain neighborhoods were one could find the best trash. For example, Bond Street on the north end of Soho, one could find some wonderful pieces of panel and backdrop paper that was discarded by the mini photo studios loaded located on Broadway.
This piece is a tribute to this past time. It was definitely one of my favorite solitary activities. But when trying to salvage large objects, it’s always good to have an extra set of hands.
