One of my favorite things to create are large scale tower works. As a direct response to my actions, as usual, my need to explore and experience to opposite end of the spectrum takes me inwards and the tiny towers come out.
This particular tiny tower is on of the tiniest of mine in this media to date(2019).
I call it "NIGHT MARKET". It is a nod to my love for the nocturnal work that goes on at all hours within large cities. Not all people subscribe to the "normal" hours of the day and the night markets emerge to satisfy those that exist on twilight schedule.
Much of my life in the city has been lived on this time table and a person has got to eat. The 24 hour food market is the star of this particular tableau.
The piece is composed of acrylic paints with carbon transfers on 4" x 4.25" MDF board.
The piece is coated in my own homemade recipe of beeswax/dammar crystals/carnauba wax encaustic.
This not only protects the piece but it brings out the rich tones and eliminates the need for glass framing.
The frame it is in is my own handmade stained custom pine with a MDF cut mat that the work slightly hovers above in order to show off it's side detail as well as give this tny flla a beefed up look.
The frame is 9.5" x 10" x 1.5"
The back is signed, titled, wired, and ready to hang.
