This is a 2018 edition of an image shot 10 years ago after coming across a patch of wild fern in the forests close to where I grew up in a spot my family called "Secret Lake".
It is on the outskirts of a once abandoned summer camp in the mountains in New York where I spent a lot of time as a child and teenager.
This shot is from one of the first couple of years working with Carly, my niece in 2008.
It was shot on black and white film, negative scanned and printed upon Japanese Kozo rice paper. The paper is hand colored on the back so not to dull the pigment tones> The print is mounted on MDF board, sized with a PVA and then coated in my homemade wax encaustic which brings out the saturation of color behind the image.
I made a custom frame for this edition.
The piece is 9 1/4" squared and about 1" deep'
The back is signed, wired and ready to hang.
I am calling it the "Twin Ladder" edition because I am adding to this package a 4"x4" copy of "Ladder #4" which is shot in the same location 10 years later.
It is a little bonus pigment print for the collector of this special little piece.
