This piece is a mascot for a work I created in 2019 titled "THE TOWER OF THE TWISTED HILL".
The recurring theme of the twisted hill in my work is in reference to my childhood home. The house sits atop a small hill. The driveway leading up to the house has a sharp twist to the right.
This view from the edge of the driveway creates a shape that has infiltrated my dreams and subconscious since I was a child. It makes it's way into my work often.
THE TOWER OF THE TWISTED HILL is an homage to a combination of emotions and inspirations triggered by the abstract form etched in my memory.
And this little house has been pulled straight from the pallette and joy of it's muse.
I am calling this little mascot the "TWISTED HILL CABIN".
It is a one-of-a-kind handmade from basswood and acrylics with carbon transfers.
It comes with a custom floating base that swivels.
The base is hand made from pieces of an old studio work-top that has the patina of 3 years work in my Somerville Studio. The edges are lined with stained pine straps.
The bottom of the base is signed and titled.
The house stands at 3" high and is 1 1/2" squared.
The base is aprox. 3 3/4" x 4"
